When your heart’s at risk, a precise diagnosis helps you and your physician make the best medical choices. DuPage Medical Group Cardiology combines leading-edge cardiac diagnostic and early-detection technologies with the expertise of fellowship-trained, board certified cardiologists to achieve the highest quality images—and the highest level of certainty in your diagnosis. So you can avoid the risks and costs of more invasive procedures. Along with the most sophisticated nuclear, echocardiography, and other non-invasive testing equipment, you can rely on our in-depth experience gained from reviewing tens of thousands of cardiac images over the years. We carefully review your results, pinpoint problems and provide insights that help put you on the road to better health. Precise images for better answers Our Nuclear program is the first program Nuclear program in the state of Illinois to be fully accredited by ICANL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories). Nuclear technology offers the most highly sensitive, noninvasive method to find, diagnose and monitor the progression of occlusive coronary artery disease. The tests generate images of blood flow to the heart muscle and heart pumping function as well as identify any damage caused by a heart attack. DuPage Medical Group Cardiology offers a complete range of nuclear cardiology imaging diagnostics, including exercise and pharmacologic perfusion studies and MUGA (multigated analysis) scans. The tests require a small, safe dose of radioactive tracer to be injected into the blood stream. State-of-the-art Gamma cameras are used to map blood flow patterns and evaluate heart muscle function. This allows our nuclear cardiologists to identify significant obstructive blockages in the coronary circulation that may require angioplasty or bypass surgery. With tens of thousands of nuclear imaging studies performed, our technologists and board certified cardiologists offer the extensive expertise that produces the best results. Because our state-of-the-art imaging equipment constantly evolves through software and technology upgrades, we are at the forefront of the latest developments. Led by a board certified nuclear cardiologists with certification in nuclear cardiology, our program uses the most advanced techniques. By using the latest methods, we are able to ensure the highest quality images and that means better clinical answers for our patients and referring physicians. DuPage Medical Group Cardiology provides complete state-of-the-art cardiac echocardiography. This imaging uses high frequency sound waves to produce a real time image of your heart to evaluate the valves, muscle function and other areas of the heart. Our echocardiography program is the first program in the state of Illinois to be fully accredited by ICAEL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories). Our advanced, leading-edge technology combined with extensively trained, certified technologists and cardiologists ensure the highest quality test images for the most effective evaluation and diagnosis. Our echocardiography center is led by a board certified cardiologist who has undergone fellowship training and comprehensive certification in adult and pediatric echocardiography.
A CT scan is a diagnostic test that uses both x-ray and computer technology. Cross section pictures of the body are taken and analyzed by the computer to make 3 dimensional pictures of the body. The CT scanner is a large square machine with a hole in the center, something like a doughnut. The procedure takes approximately 20-30 minutes and is painless. During a CT scan, you lie still on a table. The table slowly passes through the center of a large x-ray machine. During some tests you receive a contrast dye, which makes parts of your body show up better in the image. Following the procedure you may get back to your normal activity and diet right away.
