Can I participate in a research study?

Research studies are open to patients of DuPage Medical Group, the public and employees of DuPage Medical Group. Anyone who qualifies for a research study can participate. Not all patients diagnosed with a particular condition will qualify. A member of the research team may ask you questions to determine if you may be eligible to participate. You may be asked to come into the office for a visit to further determine if you qualify to participate.

OVERACTIVE BLADDER WITH INCONTINENCE

DuPage Medical Group is looking for men and women to participate in a clinical research study for overactive bladder with incontinence.  

To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Be at least 18 years old 
  • Need to urinate frequently throughout the  day and  experience a sudden urge to urinate
  • Be inadequately treated with overactive bladder medications
  • Be available for clinic visits over a 6 to 10 month period

COPD

Do You Have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also called COPD?

If so, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study of an FDA approved drug to treat COPD.

To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Be at least 40 years old
  • Be diagnosed with COPD
  • Be a current or former smoker

Type 1 Diabetes

Does someone in your family have Type 1 Diabetes?

If so, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study to be screened to see if you are at risk of developing diabetes.

Family Members who do not have diabetes are eligible if:

  • Between 1 and 20 years of age and have a parent, child, sibling, half-sibling, cousin, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, or grandparent with type 1 diabetes
  • Between 21 and 45 years of age and have a parent, child, or sibling with type 1 diabetes
  • Willing to have a blood draw

Heart Attacks 

Have You Had a Heart Attack?

If so, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational injection to reduce future heart attacks and strokes. The study drug is being tested to see if it can reduce inflammation in order to keep blood vessels open. The injection will be given in addition to standard of care therapy.

To Be Eligible Individuals:

  • Adults who have had a heart attack
  • Must be able to attend study visits every 3 months for approximately 6 years to receive an injection of the study drug or placebo
  • Cannot be taking any other biologic drugs

Qualified participants will receive compensation for time and travel and all study related care at no cost.

Psoriasis

Have You Been Diagnosed With Psoriasis?

If so, you may qualify to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication which is injected into the fat beneath the skin.

To Be Eligible Individuals Need to:

  • Be 18 to 75 years of age
  • Have stable moderate to severe plaque psoriasis for at least the past 6 months
  • Have at least 10% body surface area affected
  • Be able to attend clinic visits over a 5 year period
