DuPage Medical Group is excited to introduce Dr. Susan Mitchell as a member of our Obstetrics and Gynecology department. She brings warmth and compassion to the doctor-patient relationship, and especially values listening, communication, and patient education. Her clinical interests include management of abnormal pap smears, treatment of women with pelvic pain and menstrual disorders, helping women choose the best contraceptives to suit their individual needs, and minimally invasive surgery. She enjoys working with women of all ages, including adolescents, women of reproductive age, and women experiencing menopause.
Dr. Mitchell's obstetric experience includes training to manage high-risk pregnancies, in consultation with perinatologists as needed. Her approach to low-risk patients includes a familiarity and comfort with standard interventions, as well as the philosophy that some low-risk pregnancies can safely be managed with minimal interventions, for patients desiring a more natural approach to pregnancy and childbirth.
Dr. Mitchell was a National Merit Scholar at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she was recognized by her fellow residents for her commitment to teaching. While at Rush, Dr. Mitchell conducted research on the treatment of high-risk obstetric patients with recurrent miscarriages and blood clotting disorders.
Dr. Mitchell is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Association. She is affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital.
