He is board certified in Ophthalmology and specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous. His clinical interests include surgical management of complex retinal detachments, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He also has extensive experience in laser surgery for retinal disorders of the eye.
Dr. Gupta earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Miami, completing an accelerated six year combined honors program in medical education. He received his medical degree in 1996 from the University of Miami School of Medicine. His residency in Ophthalmology was completed at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York, New York and the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, respectively. After his residency at Jules Stein, he also completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and was appointed to the faculty at UCLA.
Dr. Gupta is a member of the American Medical Association, President and Founder of the Key West Retina Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Los Angeles Eye Society, International Society for Imaging in the Eye and the American Medical Informatics Association. Dr. Gupta is affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital.
