Dr. Matthew D’Alessio brings extensive expertise in the areas of surgical oncology and minimally invasive surgery to DuPage County. His specific clinical interests include cancers of the colon and rectum, breast, skin and soft tissue, and the gastrointestinal tract, including liver and pancreas. Dr. D’Alessio encourages a multidisciplinary approach to both cancer treatment and benign disorders, such as gastroesophageal reflux. He has published extensively in prestigious medical journals and has given presentations at national meetings.
Dr. D’Alessio earned his medical degree from the University of Florida and his residency in General Surgery at Boston University Medical Center. Dr. D’Alessio completed a research fellowship in colorectal cancer at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. After residency, Dr. D’Alessio pursued subspecialty training in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of South Florida and went on to a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in Surgical Oncology.
Dr. D’Alessio is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. D’Alessio is on staff at Edward, Good Samaritan, and Central DuPage Hospitals.
