Walter F. Briney Jr., M.D.

As a member of our Internal Medicine Department, Dr. Briney specializes in caring for adults through prevention, diagnosis and medications. Dr. Briney joined our group in 1975. He has particular interest in hematology, hypertension, cholesterol management and heart disease prevention.

Dr. Briney received his medical degree in 1970 from the Stritch School of Medicine-Loyola University. He completed his Internship Residency at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. He completed a Fellowship in Hematology in 1975 at Hines Veterans Hospital, Maywood, IL. Dr. Briney is affiliated with Central DuPage Hospital. Dr. Briney is a member of the American Medical Association and Illinois Society of Medicine and the DuPage County Medical Society.

Dr. Briney believes that a complete physical and medical history is key to good treatment. This involves taking time and listening well to every patient. He stresses information and keeping patients well-informed, as he believes a patient who understands an illness is easier to treat. Dr. Briney believes medications should be given in lower doses, that can be increased, minimizing the risk to patients. He is a baseball and football fan, and enjoys bowling, dancing and gardening, and furthering his education.
