Raymond Dieter, Jr., MD
As a member of The Department of Surgery, Dr. Dieter specializes in caring for his patients through one-on-one communication and open discussions. He provides exceptional quality care through modern techniques. Dr. Dieter joined our Clinic on September 1, 1969. He has particular interest in thoracic (chest) surgery, endoscopic procedures, wound care, laparoscopic surgery, surgical cancer treatment and vascular surgery.
Dr. Dieter received his medical degree in 1960 from the Stritch School of Medicine-Loyola University. He completed his Internship at the Cook County Hospital Internship in Chicago, IL, and completed his General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at the Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL. Dr. Dieter is affiliated with Central DuPage, Edward, Alexian Brothers, Elmhurst Memorial, Good Samaritan Hospitals.
Dr. Dieter is affiliated with the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Heart Association, and the Editorial Board for the Journal of Angiology. He has also authored and published a book and extensive articles concerning his areas of interest and expertise, especially thoracoscopy and minimally invasive chest surgery. Patients appreciate Dr. Dieters' open, frank approach. They feel very comfortable with his non-pretentious style and recognize his vast experience and expertise. Dr. Dieter and his wife, Bette, have six children and seven grandchildren. Dr. Dieter enjoys softball, baseball, basketball, cross-country skiing and swimming. He likes to watch basketball and football. He loves Alaska, and out-of-doors activities including: hunting, fishing and hiking, along with outdoor health and medicine. He has a large collection of baseball caps received from patients and friends around the world as a result of his work with the Little League and 4-H children.
