Chairman of our Department of General Surgery, Dr. Vallina is an experienced, board certified General Surgeon with an additional certificate in Surgical Critical Care. His clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, geriatric surgery, trauma surgery and ultrasound. Dr. Vallina has served as Director of the Minimally Invasive Institute and as a trauma surgeon for the Level 1 Trauma Center at East Texas Medical Center. He was also Attending Surgeon at Rush North Shore Medical Center and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital. Dr. Vallina has been published extensively in leading surgical journals and has a rich surgical teaching background.
Dr. Vallina received his medical degree in 1984 from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his Residency in General Surgery at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago.
Dr. Vallina is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His memberships include the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Chicago Surgical Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, Chicago and Illinois Medical Societies, and the American Medical Association. He is affiliated with Central DuPage Hospital, Edward Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospital.
