A board-certified surgeon, Dr. De Haan has extensive surgical experience which includes abdominal, breast, colon and rectal surgery as well as advanced laparoscopic techniques. He is also trained in the use of ultrasound technology in the surgical setting. Dr. De Haan believes in state-of-the-art surgical care practiced with open communication and compassion.
Dr. De Haan earned his medical degree in 1993 from the University of Michigan Medical School at Ann Arbor. In 1998, he completed his surgical residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center where he served as Administrative Chief Resident in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. De Haan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, Chicago Medical Society and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is affiliated with Central DuPage, Edward and Good Samaritan Hospitals. Dr. De Haan is also on staff at the Center for Surgery. Breast patients are seen at our River North Naperville location only.
