A highly experienced physician, Dr. Schmidt brings an extensive background in research and teaching to his medical practice. A former Lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health service, Dr. Schmidt has been the recipient of research funding from the American Heart Association. He has also received research funding from the University of Michigan and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Schmidt has published articles on a wide range of cardiovascular topics. His research interests have included three dimensional echocardiography and vascular biology.
In 1994, Dr. Schmidt earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Loyola University Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health, where he was also a Research Associate with the NHLBI Cardiology Branch from 1997-98. Dr. Schmidt completed fellowship training in both Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Schmidt is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Schmidt practices at our Winfiled and Downers Grove locations with privileges at Edward, Good Samaritan, and Central DuPage hospitals.
