Critical Care
Jaime Villanueva, M.D.
With his expertise in pulmonary, sleep and critical care medicine, Dr. Villanueva specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of adults with asthma, emphysema, pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. Prior to coming to DuPage Medical Group, Dr. Villanueva was a faculty member at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. During his tenure at Loyola University Medical Center, Dr. Villanueva served as Medical Director for the Center for Sleep Disorders, Medical Director for the Department of Respiratory Care, and Medical Director for the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit. He was also an integral member of the lung transplant program at Loyola and was directly involved in the care of over 200 lung transplant recipients. His academic and professional experience is highlighted by multiple publications including more than 15 research abstracts and 14 peer reviewed manuscripts. Dr. Villanueva is a frequent lecturer in numerous topics related to pulmonary disease, critical care, and sleep medicine. He has also served as a reviewer for the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Villanueva received his undergraduate degree in 1991 from Georgetown University and graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1995 from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. In 1998, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, where he also underwent fellowship training in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine from 1998-2001. Dr. Villanueva was named “Fellow of the Year” in 2001.
Dr. Villanueva is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Villanueva is affiliated with Central DuPage, Edward, and Good Samaritan Hospitals.
