Specializing in Vascular Surgery, Dr. Kumins brings intensive training, research and experience to the DuPage Medical Group. He is board certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery and treats patients with all manner of peripheral vascular disease. Dr. Kumins has special expertise in endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysms repair and served as the director of a national training program that taught surgeons from around the country how to perform this new procedure. Dr. Kumins was the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the San Diego VA Medical Center and was Assistant Professor of Surgery at The University of California, San Diego, both of which served as regional tertiary care referral centers. He has published dozens of articles in medical and surgical journals, has written book chapters in leading medical textbooks and has lectured widely on a variety of topics.
Dr. Kumins earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School in 1991. He completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center. In addition Dr. Kumins completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Illinois and a Research Fellowship at the Burn and Shock Trauma Institute at Loyola University. He currently holds a teaching appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago.
Dr. Kumins is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and The International Society of Endovascular Specialists. He is affiliated with Good Samaritan, Hinsdale, Central DuPage, and Glen Oaks Hospitals.
