Appointments
Appointments are available 5 and ½ days per week, including two evenings during the week and Saturday mornings for urgent care. Appointments can be made, by calling our office at 630-627-4722 during regular office hours. Every effort is made by our staff to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to suit the medical necessity. We request that cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance. When our office is closed, our “on call” physicians are available through the answering service for urgent medical problems. Our office is closed on Sundays and all major holidays.
Off Hours
Although we are available by phone 24 hours per day, there are certain services not available when the office is closed. We feel that it is inappropriate to prescribe antibiotics or narcotic drugs when the office is closed. We reserve the right to prescribe narcotic drugs or antibiotics during off hours only if the physician feels it is necessary, but may limit the quantity of medication prescribed until the patient can be seen in the office. We will not refill routine prescriptions during off hours.
Illness After Hours
A physician is on call after hours to answer your urgent medical questions. Call 630 627 4722 to contact the on call physician. If you have HMO insurance, you are required to obtain pre-authorization for emergency department visits from your physician, except in the case of life-threatening emergencies.
Laboratory Hours
All labs have to be scheduled. We do not accept walk-ins. Patients can call to schedule lab appointments with a nurse. There are no lab appointments on Wednesdays.
Referrals To Specialists
Referrals to specialists within DuPage Medical Group usually are processed in 1-3 business days and referrals to specialists outside of DuPage Medical Group require 3-5 business days for processing. To check on the status of a referral, contact utilization management at 630 942 7995.
Payment
We will be happy to file your insurance claims providing we have the current insurance information necessary to do so. Patients may be asked to visit our registration department before their appointment. Payment for insurance co-payments, deductibles and prior balances are expected at the time of service. Our office will accept cash, checks and credit cards.
Managed Care
Our physicians are currently contracted with several managed health care insurance plans. We operate within the guidelines of each particular plan, therefore, it is important that you understand your insurance plan and any restrictions it may have. Therefore, we suggest that you study the handbook you insurance carrier issued to you regarding your insurance plan. If you are unsure about any of your insurance specifications, the staff in our insurance/managed care department will be happy to help answer those questions.
Phone Messages
Due to the high volume of patient phone calls, it is requested that patients not routinely call the office for lab or X-ray reports. If a lab or X-ray report shows an abnormality, the patient will be notified by phone as soon as possible, otherwise the patient will be notified of the results by letter or telephone call within a reasonable amount of time. Please allow up to 14 days to hear from your doctor regarding test results. If you have a question for your physician that does not necessitate an office visit, you may call the office and leave a message for the doctor. Each physician does his/her best to return calls in a timely fashion. If the message is not of an urgent nature, your physician may wait until the end of the day or the next day to return your call. If your physician is not in on the day that you call, your message will be given to your physician’s partner for review and if not of an emergent nature, may be held till your physician returns to the office.
Medication Refills
Please allow 48-72 hours for a response to your request for a medication refill. Narcotic and controlled substances refills are done by a patient’s primary physician and are not done on weekends or after hours.
Other Services
Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory services are available on site as well as a variety of specialty departments.
Sincerely,
The Physicians and Staff
