Dr. Kelle Berggren, DuPage Medical Group Dermatologist, Featured on Channel 7 News Regarding Options for Acne
Filed Under DuPage Medical Group News | Comments Off
DuPage Medical Group’s Dermatologist, Dr. Kelle Berggren, was featured in an ABC Channel 7 Healthbeat Report on Acne that aired Thursday, February 4, 2010. Click here to read the Healthbeat report by Christine Tressel and Sylvia Perez. A video clip of this news segment is also available to view.
According to experts, acne is caused by four main culprits: excess oil production, clogged pores, inflammation, and bacteria. Most dermatologists believe sharp hormonal fluctuations play a big role in outbreaks. The hormones can be related to puberty or even menopause. Prescription methods such as antibiotics or topicals such as Retin-A or oral medications, including birth control pills for women, can be used to help clear the skin.
Isotrentinoin is a serious medication and is safe and effective despite possible side effects including depression and birth defects. Dr. Berggren says, “After a course of it, you have a 40 to 60 percent chance of cure, meaning you don’t need to take any other drugs.” Patients using isotretioin are carefully monitored and treatment typically lasts about six months.
Lasers and light therapy are the latest in treatments available. They work by killing off bacteria and promoting anti-inflammatory effects. Finding the right product and giving it time to work is the key.
Dr. Berggren works out of our Wheaton Town Square office at 199 Town Square, Suite A in Wheaton, IL. Her office offers the following treatment options for acne: Isolaz acne deep pore laser therapy; Photodynamic therapy; prescription oral medications; prescription topical medicines; Isotrentinoin; and hormonal therapy. Dr. Dawn Kroencke Discusses Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
Filed Under DuPage Medical Group News | Comments Off
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that typically occurs during the fall and winter months. In the February 2010 edition of Naperville Magazine, Dawn Kroencke, a licensed clinical psychologist with DuPage Medical Group, was interviewed regarding this disorder. The specific cause of SAD is not known, but it is believed that the reduced hours of daylight during the fall and winter months is the culprit.
“We all get the winter blues, but with SAD, it becomes so noted that you’re not doing things you enjoy, you’re not being around people, and you’re expressing the classic symptoms of depression,” says Dr. Kroencke. Click here to read the entire article and discover options available to treat SAD.
DuPage Medical Group has Psychology offices in Wheaton and Plainfield. Dr. Kroencke practices at our Plainfield office. Please call 630-510-2607 to schedule an appointment at either of our locations.

Do The Winter Blues Have You Down? A Rejuvenating Laser Treatment is Exactly what You Need to Bring Your Skin Back to Life by Melissa Seneczko, L.E. and Lee Ann Beyer, L.E. in Aesthetics at The Dermatology Institute in Naperville
Filed Under DuPage Medical Group News | Comments Off
At the Dermatology Institute in Naperville we offer non-ablative, non-invasive laser treatments perfect for sagging and dull skin as well as fine lines and wrinkles. These anti-aging therapies offer you maximum skin rejuvenation effects with virtually no downtime.
LIMELIGHT laser skin treatment: This non-invasive laser procedure offers the advantages of improving skin tone and texture. Within one to three weeks of treatment, brown spots will fade and diffuse redness will decrease, resulting in a more even complexion. We recommend three treatments spaced four weeks apart for best results. Limelight may be combined with our Titan or Laser Genesis therapies for a multi-dimensional skin rejuvenation experience.
LASER GENESIS: Treat signs of premature aging and uneven skin tone and texture on the face, neck and chest, and regain vibrant and healthy skin. Laser Genesis safely and gently heats the outer layers of the skin which allows collagen regeneration to take place beneath the skin. This collagen regeneration continues over time, minimizing pores and improving skin tone and texture. You will see a creamier, healthy complexion with no downtime.
TITAN: Titan uses light energy to heat the deep layers of the skin. This produces collagen contraction and leaves you with tighter, younger looking skin. This treatment can be preformed on the face, neck and stomach area. There is no downtime for this procedure. We recommend between 1-3 treatments for maximum results.
ISOLAZ DEEP PORE THERAPY: Isolaz is a painless treatment that combines broadband light and vacuum to help loosen and extract dirt, blackheads, and excess oil from deep within your pores. Also it helps to destroy acne causing bacteria and facial redness. Isolaz treatments can also be used to help with skin rejuvenation and hair removal.
Let us guide you into choosing the most appropriate treatment regimen based on an in depth, customized skin analysis leading to the best possible outcome. Come see us in Aesthetics at The Dermatology Institute in Naperville for your customized skin rejuvenation plan designed to give you vibrant, firmer, glowing skin.
