Looking for an Allergist or Immunologist with the Arrival of Spring?
Filed Under DuPage Medical Group News | Comments Off
Spring allergy season is here!Common springtime allergy symptoms include sneezing, nasal congestion, nasal drip, and itchy, watery eyes. Worsening asthma and sinus infections are common complications of inadequately managed allergies. In addition to asthma exacerbations and sinusitis, children may experience behavioral problems and ear infections as a result.
If you or your child are among the 35 million Americans affected by seasonal allergies, an allergist or immunologist can help. Allergists and immunologists take a proactive stance on managing allergies – aiming to maintain symptom control and prevent complications rather than reacting when allergies flare.Through identification of allergic triggers, proper education, and appropriate medical management, an allergist can help prevent annoying allergy symptoms and minimize complications. Some options for the treatment of allergies include avoidance measures, medications, and allergen immunotherapy (”allergy shots”).
Our physicians in our Asthma & Allergy Department are both Allergists and Immunologists and will help find a treatment that is right for you. DuPage Medical Group has four locations to care for you - Glen Ellyn; Lombard; Naperville; and Plainfield. To schedule an appointment, please call 630 545 7833.

It’s Not Too Early to Prepare for Springtime Allergies
Filed Under DuPage Medical Group News | Comments Off
Thomas J. Van Osdol, MD, Allergist/Immunologist with DuPage Medical Group was interviewed in West Suburban Living’s March/April 2009 issue regarding allergens with warmer weather. “Be prepared. Know that it’s coming. Anti-allergy practices are more effective when you use them proactively,” Dr. Van Osdol states. The primary culprits that cause pollen-based allergies change with the seasons. “In spring the most common respiratory allergens are trees, particularly maples, sycamores, walnuts and birches. In the summer it’s grass,” states Dr. Van Osdol. People who take allergy medicine seasonally should start using it about two weeks before they expect to start feeling symptoms.
Allergy-prone people seek allergists or immunologists to help determine what is causing their symptoms and what can help. The Asthma & Allergy Center of DuPage Medical Group are Allergists and Immunologists and can help you determine the best course of action for your symptoms. With four locations to serve you - Glen Ellyn; Lombard; Naperville; and Plainfield - you’ll find it easy to contact an Allergist or Immunologists near your home or work location.
Please call 630-545-7833 to schedule an appointment before your symptoms begin.
