Otology and Audiology

Our otolaryngologists and audiologists work as a team in diagnosing and treating patients with ear disease, from hearing loss to balance disorders. Specialized hearing and balance testing is available for patients of all ages to provide comprehensive evaluation of the ear and balance organs. Our goal is not only to provide diagnostic care, but to also offer a wide variety of medical and surgical treatments for all kinds of ear disease, whether it be a congenital problem or chronic infection. We also provide advanced reconstructive surgical techniques to provide the best hearing results and outcomes. Audiologists, who are specially trained in the diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders, work closely with our otolaryngologists to provide complete care and treatment, while also providing education about the latest hearing aid technology.

  • Placement of ear tubes for chronic infections
  • Surgery to repair a perforated or ruptured ear drum

Pediatric Otolaryngology

From newborns through adolescence, you will find that we provide the gentle and specialized ear, nose and throat care your child needs. Our surgeons have trained at some of the top children’s hospitals in the country and include members who have completed specialized fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology. We focus on the medical and surgical management of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, chronic ear infections, tonsillitis and sinusitis, as well as less common problems with hearing loss and head and neck masses. We also are equipped to perform office-based evaluations of the pediatric airway and voice.

Procedures commonly utilized in care for pediatric patients include:

  • Tonsillectomy
  • Adenoidectomy
  • Placement of ear tubes for hearing loss or chronic infections

Nasal and Sinus disorders

Chronic sinusitis and other nasal disorders are among the most commonly diagnosed diseases in the United States. Recent, revolutionary advances have greatly improved the ability to diagnose and treat sinonasal diseases. Our otolaryngologists are at the forefront of these advances and are trained in the newest techniques, some having completed rigorous fellowship training in the medical and surgical management of sinonasal disorders.  They utilize technologies such as digital imaging, high resolution CT scans, intraoperative surgical navigation and minimally-invasive endoscopic surgery to improve your sinuonasal health.  They were the first to bring innovative treatments such as balloon catheter sinus dilation (Sinuplasty) to DuPage County.  Through their commitment to research and development of novel minimally invasive therapies to address sinusitis and nasal obstruction, they continue to provide DuPage County with leading edge therapy for disease of the nose and sinuses.

  • Esophagoscopy for swallowing problems
  • Biopsy of laryngeal lesions
  • Injection treatment of the paralyzed vocal cord
  • Videostroboscopy to evaluate the speaking and singing voice
  • Laryngeal injections to relax a strangled voice also known as spasmodic dysphonia
  • Specialized treatments for laryngeal papillomas—a benign laryngeal lesion that can cause a very weak voice
