Thoroughly Understanding Your Health

We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of the illnesses that cause pain, swelling and stiffness of the joints and muscles. For most, these diseases affect the joints, skin or bones and may cause pain and discomfort. As your rheumatologist, our first priority is to determine what is causing your symptoms. To begin, we carefully review your blood work, x-rays and other diagnostic tests, looking for characteristics that may be unique to one disease or another. We also spend time listening to you, getting an understanding of what your symptoms are and when they occur. This critical interaction between doctor and patient provides us with valuable insight into what we believe is at the heart of your problem. Lastly, we look at your overall health, taking into consideration medications, health history, activity level and lifestyle. When it’s all put together, we have a complete understanding of your health from a biologic, metabolic and physiological standpoint.

Precisely Diaognosing Your Condition

Our next step is to determine what all this information means, and equally important, what it doesn’t mean. Much like a medical detective, we go through a process of elimination to pinpoint the reason for your condition. Our ability to accurately reach the right diagnosis is perhaps the greatest strength of our rheumatologists. Here you’ll have a team with experience and insight that is second to none. In fact, for many, our ability to accurately diagnose their condition ends years of frustration and leads to an effective treatment plan that brings welcome relief and a better quality of life.

Discovering a Better Tomorrow

Once we have reached a diagnosis, we then carefully explain your condition and discuss the impact various treatments will have on your illness. Early detection and treatment will often lead to better outcomes and improved quality of life. We recommend a tailored treatment plan for your specific disease and also may present alternative treatment plans for you to consider. Typically treatments may include medications, lifestyle changes or infusions. As our patient, you play a major role in this process, determining which approach will be the best fit for your lifestyle and physical health. Because inflammatory diseases can impact other parts of the body, our treatment plans may require care from other medical specialists. As part of DuPage Medical Group, we are fortunate to be in the selective company of some of the area’s leading medical specialists. With more than 250 doctors in practically every facet of healthcare, we are able to easily coordinate your treatment across multiple specialties. This unique relationship results in highly comprehensive care that is not only more convenient, but typically more effective, yielding better outcomes for our patients.

Early Detection of Osteoporosis

As rheumatologists, detecting and treating osteoporosis is a major part of our practice. We are fortunate to be one of very few practices to have a Lunar Dexa Scan on site. This advanced diagnostic equipment is used to determine a patient’s bone mineral density (BMD) which is useful in diagnosing osteoporosis and assessing one’s risk of fracture. Equally impressive, our rheumatologists are certified through the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. This unique certification means they are experts at diagnosing and managing the onset of osteoporosis, often in the early stages when treatment is most effective.

The Right Place

You’ve come to right place—a place where you’ll find a team who truly cares about you and your health. A place where you’ll find the answers you’ve been hoping for and treatments to help you enjoy life to the fullest. We look forward to caring for you.
