Frostbite

Frostbite may occur on the face or extremities when exposed to the cold for prolonged periods of time. At first, the skin will become very red, then pale. Slowly bring the skin temperature of the affected area back to normal by gently immersing in lukewarm water. Do not rub the area, as this increases damage to the frostbitten tissue. Call your physician’s office for further instructions.
