Peyronie's Disease


Peyronie’s dis­ease is an inflam­ma­to­ry con­di­tion that caus­es painful, hard plaques to form under­neath the skin in your penis, caus­ing a cur­va­ture and/​or painful erec­tions. Peyronie’s dis­ease devel­ops in approx­i­mate­ly 1 – 23 per­cent of men between the ages of 40 and 70 and may be caused by mild trau­ma to the penis, genet­ics, tobac­co use or health con­di­tions like dia­betes. Com­mon symp­toms include:

  • Penile cur­va­ture
  • Lumps in the penis
  • Painful erec­tions
  • Soft erec­tions

Treat­ment for Peyronie’s dis­ease often include injec­tion ther­a­py (Xiaflex®. Xiaflex®). Your urol­o­gist will review all avail­able treat­ment options with you and select a care plan that’s right for you.
