Melanoma is the most dan­ger­ous form of skin can­cer and devel­ops when unre­paired DNA dam­age to skin cells (usu­al­ly from sun­shine or tan­ning beds) trig­gers muta­tions that lead to skin cells mul­ti­ply­ing rapid­ly to form tumors. While melanoma is not the most com­mon skin can­cer, it is the most dead­ly since it can spread to oth­er parts of the body where it is hard­er to treat.

If melanoma is rec­og­nized and caught ear­ly, it is almost always cur­able. That is why it is so impor­tant to under­stand the ear­ly warn­ing signs of skin cancer.
