Cold & Flu

The common cold and flu are viral infections in the body. While there are no medications or “cures” for either infection, people can take certain steps to avoid getting a cold or the flu, such as flu shots, a balanced diet, proper dress for the weather and vitamins. Symptoms of the flu and a cold include fever, chills, congestion, coughing, sore throat and body aches. Both the flu and colds generally last 1-2 weeks.

Some people may be completely unable to swallow or may have trouble swallowing liquids, foods, or saliva. Eating then becomes a challenge.
