Mammogram is a commonplace term these days and most people understand that this is a routine test that can detect breast cancer at a very early stage.
Many times if something suspicious is found in a mammogram, additional testing is ordered. Oftentimes this includes a breast ultrasound. While breast ultrasound is not considered the first line in testing for breast cancer, it is an important complementary tool to mammography that can help give doctors more information.
