Nuclear Medicine-SPECT/CT

By DuPage Medical Group Radiology

Nuclear Medicine is a valuable imaging and treatment tool used to visualize your anatomy and its function. Because of the high sensitivity of this testing, Nuclear Medicine can diagnose conditions in their earliest stages and determine treatment effectiveness quickly. At DuPage Medical Group, we can provide an even more advanced nuclear tool with our recent expansion into SPECT/CT.

This technology has the ability to fuse CT imaging with Nuclear Medicine information to provide more details about your condition during one exam instead of two. This technology is offered at our Lisle facility where DMG has established a complete integrated oncology program to treat many complex cancers.

Nuclear Medicine exams require a small amount of radioactive material which will be given to you intravenously or orally. During your procedure, you will be on an exam table while a special camera will be used to visualize radioactive emissions from the radioactive tracers given. These tests can take between 1-3 hours to complete. Detailed preparation and instruction will be given to you when you schedule your exam.

To schedule an exam, or if you have any questions prior to your exam, please call Radiology at 630-432-6721.
