Physical Therapy for Women’s Health

Pelvic pain, urinary or fecal incontinence, osteoporosis and pain associated with pregnancy are all conditions that can be evaluated and treated.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, speak with your physician about whether you might benefit from physical therapy:

  • Frequent urination or waking at night to urinate
  • A strong urge to urinate or have a bowel movement with  fear you won’t make it to the bathroom in time
  • Urinary or fecal leakage
  • Difficulty emptying your bowel or bladder
  • Painful bowel or bladder conditions
  • Pain with gynecological exams, tampon use or intimacy
  • Pressure or bulging sensations in the vagina or a feeling that body tissue is falling out
  • Pain during or after pregnancy
  • Painful scars from hysterectomy, abdominal surgery, C-section or episiotomy/tearing during childbirth
  • Abdominal weakness after childbirth/C-section

  • Pelvic floor and core strengthening
  • Techniques to correct joint alignment
  • Posture correction and flexibility exercises
  • Specialized massage techniques and myofascial release
  • Relaxation techniques assisted by biofeedback
  • Bladder and bowel retraining
  • Electrical stimulation to assist pelvic floor training or pain control
  • Body mechanics/ergonomics training for infant care and work/home activities
