Heartland Cardiovascular Center Signs Letter of Intent to Join DuPage Medical GroupAugust 12, 2016
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – Heartland Cardiovascular Center, LLC has announced its intent to join DuPage Medical Group, the largest independent, multi-specialty physician group in the Chicago area, pending completion of due diligence and final contract negotiations. Upon approval, the cardiology specialists would join the DMG team on or before December 1, 2016. Additional terms of the deal were not made public.
With nine locations, Heartland Cardiovascular Center has been treating and diagnosing cardiovascular diseases for over 20 years. The practice is recognized for its early adoption of advanced techniques and university-level cardiac care including noninvasive testing, prevention, coronary angiography and angioplasty, complex peripheral arterial and venous interventions and complex arrhythmia management. In addition, Heartland Cardiovascular Center provides educational and research services through its Heartland Education and Research Foundation.
“Joining DuPage Medical Group is a great opportunity for our staff and patients,” says Dr. Abdul H. Sankari, president of Heartland Cardiovascular Center. “We share similar philosophies and are committed to physician directed medicine. Our patients will benefit from having access to additional specialties and technology, and we’ll have the ability to add more cutting-edge services.”
DMG President Dr. Paul Merrick says DMG benefits from this agreement as well. The addition of Heartland Cardiovascular allows patients to have their medical information shared seamlessly between physicians at both groups. This expansion will also grow a core service line for DMG, allowing its doctors to treat heart health when and where patients need it most.
“Heartland Cardiovascular Center has a team of 20 very talented physicians and four nurse practitioners doing great work,” says Merrick. “Our new relationship will expand and improve patients’ access to crucial health care throughout the Chicago area.”
Both organizations will continue to operate independently through the due diligence period. The doctors offer patients specialized treatment for a variety of conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, angina and all other conditions related to the heart and cardiovascular system.
