Bi-Polar Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP)


Bi-Polar Transurethral Resec­tion of the Prostate(TURP) is a sur­gi­cal pro­ce­dure used to treat men with Benign Pro­sta­t­ic Hyper­pla­sia (BPH), or an enlarge­ment of the prostate gland. 

A TURP pro­ce­dure is per­formed using gen­er­al anes­the­sia. Dur­ing the pro­ce­dure, your urol­o­gist will remove some of the obstruct­ing pro­sta­t­ic tis­sue, open­ing the ure­thra to improve your uri­nary flow and pro­vides uri­nary symp­tom relief.
