Sleeve Gastrectomy

Sleeve gastrectomy surgery is a type of Bariatric (weight loss) surgery. During the procedure, your surgeon utilizes a thin, vertical sleeve of the stomach approximately the size of a banana, removing the remaining portion of the stomach.

The surgery takes between one and one-and-a-half hours to perform, followed by a one or two night stay in the hospital. The average recovery time ranges between two and four weeks.

Sleeve gastrectomy surgery offers quick and substantial weight loss (on average between 60 and 70 percent of excess body weight) and has less change of vitamin deficiencies and malabsorption than other treatment options.
