Paul Merrick, M.D., is a board-certified urologist and president of DuPage Medical Group (DMG), the largest independent, multi-specialty physician group in Illinois.
In his role as president, Dr. Merrick works closely with the DMG leadership team to guide and improve all aspects of patient care. He also leads physicians in continuously seeking innovations to help them navigate the complex healthcare landscape, with an emphasis on quality, efficiency and access. Dr. Merrick ensures DMG’s physician-driven approach continues to lead to exceptional physician engagement and improved patient outcomes. He also guides the DMG development team to recruit best-in-class physicians – as well as physician groups that want to remain independent – to join the organization’s growing physician family.
As a renowned urologist who has treated thousands of patients, Dr. Merrick brings a depth of experience treating a wide-range of urologic diseases and issues including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney stones, erectile dysfunction and incontinence.
Dr. Merrick has been in practice at DuPage Medical Group since 1994 and has served as president since 2009. He earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center where he served as chief resident of urology.
Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Jean Houlihan strives to partner with her patients to manage a healthy lifestyle. Her clinical interests include women’s health, preventive care, cardiac health and cholesterol management.
Dr. Houlihan has been practicing in DuPage County since 1995. She received her degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL. While completing her internship and residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, she received a Robert E. Slayton Prize for Special Competence, Sensitivity and Compassion in Medical Oncology and a Department of Internal Medicine Award for Excellent Work as a Resident.
A board-certified physician in Family Practice and Secretary of DuPage Medical Group, Dr. Michael Fitzgerald is an experienced family medicine physician whose expertise includes diabetes, asthma, sports medicine and acute care issues. Dr. Fitzgerald focuses on teaching families, including children and the elderly, how to stay healthy, active, and injury-free. He has instructed medical students in a variety of settings, including family practice clinics, intensive care units and pediatric and obstetric wards.
Dr. Fitzgerald is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. He is affiliated with Edward Hospital.
Dr. Fitzgerald has been a member of the DMG Family Practice Department since 2001. He earned his medical degree in 1998 from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill., and completed his residency at MacNeal Family Practice in Berwyn, Ill.
A board-certified physician in critical care, sleep medicine and pulmonary medicine and Treasurer of DuPage Medical Group, Dr. John Porcelli is a Chicago native who brings extensive experience to DMG. Dr. Porcelli’s clinical interests include lung cancer, emphysema, chronic cough, sarcoidosis, acute lung injury, adult asthma, sleep disorders and many other pulmonary diseases.
Dr. Porcelli is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Chicago Thoracic Society, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan, Central DuPage and Edward hospitals. He also maintains an academic appointment at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.
Dr. Porcelli joined DMG in 2004. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1994 and his medical degree in 1998 from Rush Medical College in Chicago. In 2001, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and later underwent intensive fellowship training in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood from 2001-2004, where he served as Chief Fellow from 2003-2004.
Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Christina E. Bratis has extensive experience as a hospitalist. She is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Edward Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, and speaks English and German.
Dr. Bratis joined DMG in August 2009. She received her medical degree in 2005 from Rush University Medical College and served as chief resident in internal medicine at University of Illinois.
A board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Shilpa Reddy Cherukupally has more than 15 years of experience within her specialty. Her medical interests include minimally invasive sinus surgery, in-office balloon sinuplasty, sinus surgery in adults and children, treatment of nasal obstruction and snoring in adults and children as well as pediatric otolaryngology conditions.
She previously served as director of pediatric otolaryngology at Cornell Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital as well as the assistant professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Cornell Medical School.
Dr. Cherukupally joined DMG in August 2005. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1997. She completed her residency at Harvard Medical School and her pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cherukupally is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Edward Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.
A board-certified member of DuPage Medical Group’s internal medicine and pediatrics departments, Dr. David Dungan is an experienced internist who specializes in infant, child and adolescent healthcare. He is a certified provider of neonatal advanced life support (NALS) and basic life support, as well as a certified instructor in advanced cardiac life support. His special areas of clinical interest include cholesterol, hypertension, nutrition and preventive medicine, including obesity prevention. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Dungan chairs the data committee and serves as medical advisor for the Fighting Obesity Reaching healthy Weight Among Residents of DuPage (FORWARD) initiative in DuPage County, which is dedicated to building community based systems to counter the growing problem of childhood obesity and its complications. In addition, Dr. Dungan is currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians. He is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.
Dr. Dungan joined DMG in 2000. Prior to joining DuPage Medical Group, Dr. Dungan received his medical degree in 1988 from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood. He completed his combined Residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Loyola University Medical Center/Foster McGaw Hospital.
Board-certified in Radiology, Dr. Juliet Fallah serves on our radiology team and is the radiation safety officer of DuPage Medical Group. She developed policies and implemented protocols for DMG patients to minimize and track imaging radiation exposure.
Dr. Fallah has been practicing at DuPage Medical Group for several years, following her work at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital where she developed the PET/CT program as well as the CT angiography program. She completed her fellowship training in chest imaging at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
A board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Donald Hoscheit specializes in diseases and disorders of the digestive tract. Dr. Hoscheit has particular interest in endoscopic surgery, colon cancer detection and screening, colitis, Crohn's disease and peptic ulcer disease.
Dr. Hoscheit is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Chicago Society for Gastroenterology and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America and the DuPage County Medical Society. He has also been elected a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Hoscheit joined DMG in 1987. He received his medical degree in 1982 from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. He is affiliated with Central DuPage, Delnor Community and Edward Hospitals, as well as the DMG Center for Surgery.
Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Mathew Philip specializes in the management of patients with complex health issues through DuPage Medical Group's BreakThrough Care Center.
Dr. Philip joined DMG in 2009. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2006 and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Michael A. Kasper is the chief executive officer of DuPage Medical Group (DMG), the largest independent, multi-specialty physician group in Illinois. In his role, he collaborates with DMG’s Board of Directors and leads the executive leadership team to set the business strategy and direct operations for the organization – with a goal of continuously delivering the highest quality, most accessible and compassionate healthcare to patients.
During his tenure as CEO, DMG has experienced unprecedented growth and expansion. DMG is now comprised of more than 700 physicians and 50 specialties in over 100 Chicagoland locations – with more than 650,000 patients.
Under Kasper’s leadership, in August 2017, DMG announced a $1.45 billion investment from Ares Management Private Equity Group to enhance and support DMG’s growth initiatives, including population health, expansion into new geographies and opening new clinical lines of service to reach and treat more patients.
Prior to joining DMG in September 2010, Kasper was President of Humana Illinois. He has also held executive roles with Coventry Healthcare, Aetna and Kaiser Permanente. In 2011, he was named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ “40 Under 40” list for his superior business leadership and achievement in the Chicago area. In 2012, Modern Healthcare magazine recognized Kasper in its yearly “Up and Comers” list of honorees for his significant impact in the field of healthcare.
Kasper actively works with the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation (LDSF) to raise awareness of Loeys-Dietz syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder. He serves as a Board Member for the American Heart Association, where he was the 2008 and 2011 Co-Chair for the Chicago Heart Ball. He is also a member of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Associate Board Member of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. He is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago. He holds a Masters in Health Administration from Indiana University.
Mike Pacetti, as CFO, is responsible for cash management, accounting, budgeting and planning, financial reporting, patient accounts, coding and compliance, safety and risk management, and physician recruitment. He has been with DuPage Medical Group since 1998. In 2012, Pacetti was selected as an honoree by Daily Herald Business Ledger’s first annual “CFO of the Year Awards.”
Prior to joining DMG, Pacetti was the controller of Suburban Heights Medical Center, a group practice in the South suburbs of Chicago with over 60 physicians and a variety of ancillary services, including a surgery center. Pacetti was with Suburban Heights Medical Center for eight years. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Illinois State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
As Chief Operating Officer of DuPage Medical Group, Donna Cooper focuses on maintaining efficiencies in operations and guiding future strategic growth, optimizing the operations of DMG’s practice sites, as well as collaborating with physicians and functional leaders throughout the organization to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Cooper joined DMG in 2018 with more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience, most recently serving as chief operating officer of Advocate Medical Group (AMG), where she was employed since 2007. In a previous role, she served as president of Advocate Dreyer Medical Clinic where she directed various healthcare business operations on all levels.
Prior to her tenure with Advocate, Cooper worked as the chief financial officer and then CEO of Physicians Clinic of Iowa. She also previously held positions at a managed care company where she negotiated payer, vendor and Physician-Hospital Organization (PHO) contracts.
Cooper is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees
With more than 15 years of experience in health care IT, Nick Martin serves as the Chief Technology Officer of DuPage Medical Group. As a key leader on the executive management team, he provides expertise in application development, infrastructure, analytics and consumer experience.
Prior to joining DMG in 2018, he held positions with UnitedHealth Group’s Optum, first as vice president of innovation research and development, then as CIO of its international division, where he directed all aspects of technology, from strategic planning and desktop support to transforming and implementing IT platforms to support business growth in the U.K., South America and Australia.
Martin also previously served as the senior information technology director of UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement, as well as the information technology director of Pharmacy Solutions/Consumer Health Products, where he established the vision and executed the information technology strategy for sales, marketing and service businesses.
Martin’s passion lies in the development of health care technologies. He is a digital transformation evangelist and innovator, who has developed award-winning mobile applications designed to drive consumer engagement and improve individuals’ health and wellbeing.
Henry Tobie has 15 years of diverse experience in the health care industry. As DuPage Medical Group’s Chief Development Officer, he provides strategic oversight with business development, physician recruitment and hospital partnership integration. With DMG’s continued expansion into Cook, DuPage and Will counties, Tobie will play an integral role in the organization’s commitment to serving patients in their own communities, when and where they need care most.
Prior to joining DMG, Tobie held business development leadership positions with ATI Physical Therapy in Bolingbrook, Illinois, where he managed and grew the company’s sales force, and led initiatives with its executive team. He also has experience in the pharmaceutical industry, receiving numerous recognitions and acknowledgments for his sales and relationship-building performance.
Tobie earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he has completed various business-training programs through the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Harvard Business School Executive Education.
He is fluent in Spanish and is interested in improving health care delivery in developing nations.
